 En España, existen más de 2.100 kilómetros de infraestructuras ferroviarias en desuso que han sido reconvertidas en itinerarios cicloturistas y senderistas.

Vía Verde de la Sierra, Cádiz    /    Green Way of the Range, Cádiz, Spain

    La de la foto es la Vía Verde de la Sierra que discurre entre los pueblos de Puerto Serrano y Olvera en la provincia de Cádiz. Tiene una longitud de 36 km y durante su recorrido encontramos las antiguas construcciones ferroviarias como las estaciones, convertidas en hoteles y restaurantes para los visitantes, largos túneles de hasta 900 metros de longitud y elegantes viaductos como el que atravesamos en la imágen que salva el arroyo de los Azares. El trazado acompaña paralelamente a los ríos Guadalete y Guadalporcún y pasa por parajes de espectacular belleza como el peñón de Zaframagón, una de las reservas de buitres más pobladas de Europa. El tren, muy esperado por los habitantes de principios del XX de las comarcas atravesadas, nunca llegó a circular por este trazado ya que su construcción fué abandonada al comienzo de la guerra civil a falta solo de ser extendidas las vías.

The Green Way of the Range

In Spain exist more than 2.100 kilometers of disuse railway infrastructures that they have been reconverted in roads for cyclists and walkers called Green Ways. The one in the picture is the Green Way of the Range that joins the towns of Puerto Serrano and Olvera in the province of Cádiz. It's 36 km long and all over the way we found the old railway constructions like the stations, transformed into hotels and restaurants for visitors, long tunnels of more than 900 meters long and smart viaducts like the one we are passing in the picture that cross the Azares stream . The route goes parallel with the rivers Guadalete and Guadalporcún and crosses through places of spectacular beauty like the Crag of Zaframagón, one of the most populated vultures reserve in Europe. The train, very expected by the people at the beginnig of XX century in those regions, never passed by this route because its construction was given up at the beginnig of the spanish Civil War (1.936) when only the rails were the last part to make.
